Analyst implies transfers can make or break Texas football season

There will be a few critical factors at work for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program this fall that could really increase on-field success over last season. Texas will have to make big strides on the court this fall to prove this program is headed in the right direction under Sark and his team.

A key factor that could really push the Longhorns to the next level in terms of success in the win column this fall is the slew of additions to the NCAA transfer portal that will have an immediate impact. That includes the likes of the redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn ewerssophomore redshirt wide receiver Isaiah Neyor, sophomore redshirt defensive back Ryan Watts and super senior linebacker Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey, among others.

In total, the Longhorns have nearly double-digit transfer numbers who will be looking to make a mark for this program as early as this fall.

It’s easy to see how Texas will be so heavily impacted by the Transfer Portal additions to this team in 2022. And that’s something On3’s JD PicKell noticed in an analysis of Texas’ prospects for the 2022 season. .

How Quinn Ewers and Texas football transfers could impact Horns’ 2022 win

PicKell noted that all of those transfer meshes from Texas in a short period of time this year will be key to making this 2022 campaign a success for Sark and his team. That specifically means Texas is able to put the pieces together around former Ohio State Buckeyes transfer signal caller Ewers.

PicKell also specifically pointed to the potential special bond in the passing game between Ewers and former Wyoming Cowboys wide receiver Neyor. If Ewers and Neyor can find chemistry right away this fall, it will help the rest of the transfer pieces fit in well for this team.

Overall, PicKell essentially implies that the ability of these Texan transfers to mesh and find their respective roles with the team this fall can be a real deal-breaker in 2022. If Texas can find the right roles and get those transfers contribute significantly from the start this fall, it’s hard to see how this team could realistically fall short of expectations.

The impact these new Texan transfers will have on the team in 2022 is obviously enhanced by the fact that one of the additions is Ewers. Texas landing one of the highest-rated quarterback rookies in modern college football history clearly raises the stakes in that he’s a factor in this team’s success this fall.
