Dashawn Womack commits to LSU football over Georgia football

One of those top defensive prospects in the 2023 recruiting round is St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, product Dashawn Womack. Womack is a 6’4, 255-pound defensive end who has a public top 5 from Oregon, Ole Miss, Georgia, LSU and Maryland and is due to make his college announcement on Monday, committing to the LSU Tigers.

The Bulldogs doggedly pursued Womack, welcoming him for an official visit the first weekend of the summer in late May, but in the end missed Womack. Sources said that after the visit, Georgia felt well placed for Womack, but as the summer wore on and June wound down, Womack made the remaining four official visits and it was the Tigers who made it. finally won.

So what did Georgia miss? Well, a polished and physically prepared football player in one of the best high school programs in the country. St. Frances in Baltimore, Maryland is a well-known program for developing polished products, like Jamon Dumas-Johnson. You sign a player from St. Frances, you sign a prospect ready to rock.

Looking at the tape, you will see a football player who could project inside depending on his height. At 255 pounds already, there’s reason to believe he could be playing at or near 275 pounds by the end of college.

Georgia remain at 11 commitments in the 2023 class, and with no real defensive prospect. However, they are in a great position with several EDGE rushers, including current commit, Gabriel Harris.
