As the Scarborough Sunday League folded several weeks ago, there is more space in the sports weekend for matches, so the Scarborough Saturday League offers its clubs the opportunity to give kick-off up to 24 hours after the traditional Saturday kick-off time of 2 p.m.
League secretary John Orrah said: “We will run a division this season with 10 teams. League matches can now be played over a weekend.
“Matches can start up to 24 hours after the standard 2 p.m. Saturday if both teams agree.”
With no Sunday League games for the first time in 51 years in the Scarborough and District area, this leaves an opening for Saturday League teams to move some games to a Sunday.
Orrah added: “We are always open to new teams applying for the Saturday League and hopefully the kick off flexibility will attract a few more teams to join the league for next season.
“Kick-off times for matches may also be brought forward to allow local players to watch Scarborough Athletic’s home games in the National League North, which would start at 3pm at Flamingo Land Stadium.”
