Football player Raheem Sterling bid farewell to Manchester City on Wednesday to join his new team, Chelsea.

Sterling flew to Los Angeles to join Chelsea on their pre-season tour and put pen to paper on a five-year deal worth 50 million pounds ($60 million) with the arch-rival. City in the Premier League.

The England attacking midfielder posted a heartfelt message on social media, along with a video of the highlights of his time at City.

“Seven seasons, eleven major trophies, a lifetime of memories,” the post read.

“To the coaching staff who have played a huge role in my development over the years, to my teammates who have become more than those I share a pitch with, to the behind-the-scenes staff, to the office staff, to the fans who have tirelessly supported the team, and to everyone involved with Manchester City, my respect for you couldn’t be greater.
“What a ride it’s been.”

Sterling joined City from Liverpool in 2015 for a fee of nearly £50m, making him the most expensive England player of all time.

Sterling, 27, helped City win four league titles and scored 131 goals in 339 games in all competitions. He was in and out of the squad last season and didn’t start either leg of the Champions League semi-final defeat to Real Madrid or the Premier League title against Aston Villa on the final day.

“I’m grateful for the ups and downs,” Sterling added in his post.

“As these are the lows that have sometimes tested my strength and my resolve, and allowed me to stand here before you as the best possible version of myself.

“I arrived in Manchester at 20, today I leave as a man.”
