Raheem Sterling scored his first goal in a Chelsea shirt as his new club got their pre-season back on track with a 3-1 win over Udinese at the Dacia Arena on Friday.
Sterling, who arrived from Manchester City in the summer, somewhat fortuitously brought the ball home from close range on the second attempt in the 37th minute after a fine through pass from Jorginho.

By then, Chelsea were already one goal down. N’Golo Kante opened the scoring after 20 minutes as he was allowed to drift upwards before unleashing a fine left-footed striker into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Former Watford striker Gerard Deulofeu pulled a goal back for the hosts shortly before half-time after Edouard Mendy saved from Roberto Pereyra’s shot.
But Chelsea would not be denied a much-needed victory before the start of their Premier League season against Everton a week on Saturday. Sterling nearly grabbed his second of the night with an effort that came home from the post before Mason Mount converted substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi’s cross in the 90th minute.
Chelsea came into the game after a disappointing 4-0 loss to London rivals Arsenal and a penalty shootout loss to MLS side Charlotte FC as the club prepare for their first season under new ownership.
